The Sea Turtle and The Plastic Bag
Concept art - Sea Shepherd 3D animated Movie
Six of every ten turtles die of plastic ingestion. Only one in every one hundred reaches adulthood.
I've been invited to develop the concept art for an 3D animation directed by Media Effects, for Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.
The animation is focused on creating awareness about human trash deposited in the ocean. The story shows the life and the unhappy encounter between it's two main characters: a sea turtle and a common plastic bag.
The video is dramatic, with an emotive soundtrack. It has an increasing suspense, as the color scheme develops along the video to a darker mood.
To create this animation's concept art I went deep into research. I got surprised about this lonely animal and it's 6 subspecies. I have visited one preservation site where I have met and drawn turtles at a close sight. (Two study pages are at the end of this page).
Unfortunately, the animation is not available at the internet, for reasons unknown by me. But here is my contribution to it.
Uma a cada seis tartarugas marinhas morrem por ingestão de plástico. Apenas uma a cada cem conseguem atingir a maturidade.Fui convidada a desenvolver todo concept art da animação 3D, dirigida pela Media Effects para a Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.
A animação é focada na conscientização sobre o problema do lixo gerado pelos humanos. O roteiro mostra a vida e o encontro (nada feliz) dos seus dois personagens principais: a tartaruga marinha e o saco plástico comum.
O vídeo é dramático, com uma trilha bastante emotiva. Nele o suspense é crescente, e assim o esquema cromático também vai se transformando ao longo do filme, até alcançar um tom bem sombrio.
Para criar a arte do filme aprofundei o processo de pesquisa. Estudei e descobri muito sobre este animal solitário e suas 6 subespécies. Visitei a base de um projeto de preservação e pude conhecer e desenhar algumas de bem perto. (Duas páginas de estudos estão no final desta galeria.)
Infelizmente, por motivos que desconheço, o vídeo não está aberto na internet. Mas fica aqui minha contribuição em ilustrações.
